Health & Safety Advisor 

Package: £48,000–£52,000 DOE + £4,000 car allowance

Role Purpose

This position plays a central part in strengthening the organisation’s approach to health and safety. Working alongside the Head of SHEQ, the Advisor will help shape how safety is managed day‑to‑day, ensuring the business operates responsibly, legally, and with a strong commitment to protecting people. The role focuses on improving systems, guiding teams, and driving a culture where safe working is the norm.

Core Duties

  • H&S System Development - Contribute to building, refining, and embedding the company’s Health & Safety Management System across all departments.

  • Legislative Compliance - Support the organisation in meeting statutory requirements and internal safety standards.

  • Professional Guidance - Act as a knowledgeable point of contact for colleagues seeking health and safety support.

  • Culture Building - Encourage safe behaviours and help reinforce a positive, proactive safety mindset.

  • Site Support - Work with operational teams to ensure safe working practices are consistently applied.

  • Data & Reporting - Gather and interpret incident, accident, and near‑miss information to identify patterns and recommend improvements.

  • Incident Investigation - Lead or assist with investigations, ensuring outcomes and learning points are shared effectively.

  • RAMS Oversight - Review and advise on Risk Assessments and Method Statements; help Contract Managers produce robust documentation.

  • Inspections & Checks - Carry out routine inspections, including vehicle checks, PUWER compliance, first‑aid provision, sickness monitoring, and behavioural observations.

  • Policy Maintenance - Keep health and safety procedures up to date and aligned with current legislation and operational needs.

  • Toolbox Talks -mPrepare and deliver short, practical safety briefings relevant to ongoing work.

  • Continuous Improvement - Influence teams positively and support ongoing enhancements to safety performance.

  • Audit & Accreditation Support - Assist with internal and external audits, certification renewals, and compliance reviews.

Essential Background

  • Experience gained in construction, FM, property compliance, or a comparable operational environment.

  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate (minimum requirement).

  • Strong working knowledge of RAMS, CPPs, inspections, and audit processes.

Preferred Attributes & Knowledge

  • A proactive mindset with the ability to encourage behavioural change.

  • Understanding of ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 9001 frameworks.

  • Exposure to landlord compliance areas such as asbestos, fire safety, and legionella.

  • Familiarity with CDM Regulations.

  • Full UK driving licence.

What’s Offered
