Health and Safety Assistant

£26,695 - £30,007 per annum
We are seeking a proactive, organised and detail-focused Health and Safety Assistant to join our Health and Safety team.
This is a key support role within a small, collaborative team, providing essential administrative and systems support to ensure the effective delivery of Health and Safety services across the organisation. You will act as the first point of contact for Health and Safety enquiries, maintain key systems, and support compliance with current legislation.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Maintain Health and Safety systems, ensuring records are accurate, up to date, and compliant
- Support the development, review, and implementation of HandS policies and procedures
- Manage and update the Health and Safety Hub on the intranet
- Produce reports and analyse HandS data using IT systems (including Excel)
- Act as the first point of contact for HandS queries via phone, email, and internal systems
- Triage incidents and ensure enquiries are appropriately directed
- Provide administrative support, including coordinating meetings and taking minutes
- Support the team in delivering a high-quality, responsive, and compliant service
About You
You will be highly organised, detail-oriented, and confident working with systems and data. You’ll enjoy working as part of a team and take pride in delivering excellent customer service.
Essential Requirements
- A relevant Health and Safety qualification (Level 3 or equivalent, e.g. IOSH, NEBOSH, NVQ)
- Knowledge of current Health and Safety legislation and best practice
- Experience in a Health and Safety or similar environment
- Strong administrative experience managing multiple tasks
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, with the ability to analyse and present data
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Good numeracy, IT, and written communication skills
- Knowledge or experience within the social housing sector is desirable
