Reporting to: QHSE Compliance Manager

Purpose of Function:    To ensure Hurst Doors is compliant with Health and Safety Legislation and operates within a safe working environment under the guidelines of IOSH and ISO 45001.

Purpose of Role:    To manage all Health & Safety Systems, Processes and Personnel including Occupational Health.

Deliverables

  • To establish and maintain a Safety Management System that is compliant with ISO 45001.
  • To work with all areas of the business to ensure that we operate within the latest Health and Safety Legislation.
  • To report progress against H&S KPI’s and develop improvements in all areas of H&S.
  • Maintain the Maintenance Management system with both internal and external providers.
  • Co-ordinate and maintain the Training Management System
  • Co-ordinate and maintain the Occupational Health System
  • Conduct operation risk assessments and design risk mitigation measures. 
  • Manage Emergency Evacuation and reporting procedures.
  • Oversee External Safety inspections and liaise with all internal stakeholders to ensure compliance.
  • Oversee Internal Safety inspections, log and report all actions.
  • Ensure unsafe behaviours are challenged and unsafe conditions are reported and actioned.
  • Ensure accident investigations are carried out in a timely and thorough manner by the appropriate line manager.
  • Co-ordinate First Aider and Fire Warden activities.
  • Work closely with the Group Health and Safety Consultant.

Qualifications

  • Formal qualification in H&S Management (NEBOSH General Certificate or above)
  • Membership of IOSH (ideally Tech IOSH)
  • Articulate, high attention to detail.
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Computer literate and numerate
  • Good communicator and influencer
  • Self-motivated with positive attitude
  • Ability to challenge unsafe behaviours and coach staff to make the right corrective action.

Benefits

  • £30,000 to £35,000 per annum, depending on experience and training.
  • Full-time, on-site in Hull
  • 40-hour working week: Monday to Friday 8:00am – 4:30pm
  • 25 days annual leave plus statutory holidays.
  • Additional 1 day annual leave awarded for each full year of service, up to a maximum of 30 days holiday after 5 years’ service.
