Job Title: Heating Engineer – Air Source Heat Pump Installations
Salary: £45,000 – £47,000
Location: Sussex, Kent and Surrey
Why this role
The best heat pump engineers understand more than the unit outside the house. They understand the whole heating system behind it: the pipework, the old boiler, the radiators, the water flow, the shortcuts taken years ago and the hidden issues that only appear once you start opening things up.
This role is for a heating engineer who has built their career in domestic heating and now wants to apply that experience to high-quality air source heat pump installations. You will be trusted to work independently, make sound technical decisions and help homeowners move confidently from traditional heating to low-carbon technology.
What you’ll do
You will carry out domestic heat pump installations across residential properties, working on projects that often involve removing or adapting existing heating systems. You will assess the condition of pipework and wider heating infrastructure, understand what needs upgrading, and install systems that perform properly in real homes.
This is a field-based role covering Sussex, Kent and East Surrey. You will work closely with colleagues across installation, operations and renewables delivery to make sure each project is planned and completed to a high standard.
About the company
You will join a growing residential renewables business delivering solar, battery and low-carbon heating solutions for homeowners. The company is ambitious, practical and quality-focused, with a strong emphasis on doing the job properly rather than rushing installations through.
It is an ideal environment for an experienced heating engineer who wants stability, responsibility and a long-term future in the heat pump market.
About you
You will be an experienced domestic heating engineer with a strong background in plumbing and heating installations. Ideally, you will have six to ten years’ experience working on domestic gas heating systems, followed by solid exposure to air source heat pump installations.
You should be confident working independently on heat pump projects and comfortable dealing with the realities of existing domestic systems. NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing and Heating is expected, along with Gas Safe registration. Heat pump experience is essential, ideally gained over several years of hands-on installation work.
Rewards & growth
You will receive a salary of £45,000 to £47,000, a company van for work use, and the opportunity to build your career in one of the most important growth areas in residential renewables.
