HGV Driver (Class 1 & Class 2) – Permanent Employment

Salary: £39,780 – £42,120 per year (based on a 45-hour week and experience)

Backline is looking for experienced HGV Drivers to join our permanently employed Elite Driving Team. You'll work with a range of valued local clients, operating rigid and articulated vehicles across distribution, day trunking, and other transport assignments. Training & Career Development

• HIAB
• ADR
• Moffett
• CPC training
• FLT qualifications
• Licence upgrades (Class 2 to Class 1)
• Refresher and specialist logistics training

About You

We're looking for professional drivers who enjoy variety, take pride in their work, and are keen to develop their skills.

Essential requirements:

• Minimum 2 years' commercial HGV driving experience.
• Valid HGV licence, CPC and Digital Tachograph Card
• Maximum 6 penalty points for minor offences
• 2 years' checkable employment history
• Positive attitude and commitment to delivering excellent service.

Frequently Asked Questions

If there isn't any work available, will I still get paid?

Yes. As a permanently employed member of the Backline team, you will continue to receive your guaranteed weekly salary, paid every Friday.

What happens during quieter periods of the year?

As a member of our Elite Driving Team, you'll receive priority access to available assignments and opportunities across our client network.

I don't have HIAB or ADR qualifications. Can I still apply?

Absolutely. If you have the right attitude, at least 2 years of commercial HGV driving experience, and a willingness to learn, we'll invest in your development and fund relevant qualifications such as HIAB, ADR, and other industry-recognised certifications.
