Our client is a well-known and reputable transport company in Castle Donington. Currently they are looking for an experienced Mobile HGV Technician / Mobile HGV Fitter to join their busy depot in Castle Donington.
Duties:
A Mobile HGV (Heavy Goods Vehicle) Technician is a specialist who provides repair, maintenance, and diagnostic services for trucks, lorries, and other heavy vehicles, often at the vehicle’s location rather than in a workshop. Their duties are varied and require both technical expertise and practical problem-solving skills. Here’s a detailed breakdown:
1. Vehicle Diagnostics and Inspection
- Conducting thorough inspections of HGVs to identify mechanical or electrical faults.
- Using diagnostic tools and software to troubleshoot engine, transmission, braking, and electronic systems.
- Performing pre-delivery or safety checks to ensure vehicles meet legal and operational standards.
2. Maintenance and Repair
- Carrying out scheduled maintenance such as oil changes, brake servicing, and filter replacements.
- Repairing or replacing faulty parts, including engines, gearboxes, suspensions, and electrical components.
- Welding or fabricating parts if necessary to restore vehicle functionality.
3. On-Site Emergency Repairs
- Responding to breakdowns at customer locations, including roadside emergencies.
- Assessing whether a vehicle can be repaired on-site or needs to be towed to a workshop.
