The Role of the HGV Technician
We are currently recruiting for an experienced HGV Technician to join a busy depot working on a modern fleet of buses and coaches (PSV).
This is a hands-on role where you will be responsible for maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs, ensuring vehicles are safe, compliant, and operating at peak performance.
Key Responsibilities of the HGV Technician
- Carry out routine servicing, maintenance, and inspections on PSV vehicles
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults
- Complete defect repairs and breakdown rectification
- Perform brake, suspension, engine, and gearbox work
- Conduct MOT preparation and safety inspections
- Use diagnostic equipment to identify and resolve faults
- Ensure all work is completed in line with DVSA and company standards
- Accurately complete job cards and maintenance records
- Work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced depot environment
What We’re Looking For from the HGV Technician
- Experience as an HGV / PSV Technician or Mechanic
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance (preferred)
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
- Experience working on buses or coaches (desirable but not essential)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Commitment to health & safety and quality standards
