Pay: £110 - £140 per day

About the Role:
Vocational Recruitment is working in partnership with a specialist SEND school in Southwark to appoint a dedicated and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) for a full-time role trialling now and starting in September 2026.
This is a long-term position as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant. The role involves supporting pupils with a range of special educational needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Speech and Language Difficulties, and Moderate Learning Difficulties. The successful candidate will work closely with class teachers and the wider SEND team, leading interventions, delivering planned lessons, and providing high-quality support across the school.
Previous experience working as a HLTA or within a SEND setting is desirable, alongside strong communication skills, confidence leading groups, and a proactive approach to supporting pupils.

Key Responsibilities for the HLTA role:
• Deliver planned lessons and learning activities in the absence of the class teacher
• Lead small-group interventions and targeted support sessions
• Support pupils with SEND to access learning and achieve individual targets
• Work closely with teachers to adapt learning activities and resources
• Monitor and record pupil progress where required
• Support the implementation of EHCP targets and personalised learning plans
• Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
• Provide guidance and support to Teaching Assistants where appropriate
• Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all pupils at all times
Requirements for the HLTA role:
• Previous experience working as a HLTA or in a similar role
• Experience supporting children or young people with SEND (desirable)
• HLTA qualification or equivalent experience (desirable)
• Strong understanding of SEND and inclusive educational practices
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• Confidence leading groups and delivering learning activities independently
• A proactive and positive approach to supporting pupils
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare
