Housing Advisor

Spencer Clarke Group are seeking a Housing Advisor for a Local Authority Client in Southwest London.

In this role, you will support people at risk of homelessness by assessing their needs and securing appropriate housing solutions.

Duties:

• Provide frontline housing advice, complete housing needs assessments, and develop personalised housing plans.
• Manage a complex caseload, delivering homelessness prevention and relief through advice, negotiation, and mediation.
• Assess homelessness applications under Part VII of the Housing Act 1996 and communicate outcomes to customers.
• Explore and secure suitable housing options, including private rented and supported accommodation, to prevent homelessness.

Qualifications and Experience:

The successful candidate will have the following skills / experience:

• Experience working in a housing options, homelessness prevention, or local authority housing service.
• Experience managing a busy caseload and working effectively in a high-pressure, customer-facing environment.
• Experience applying housing law, particularly the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 and Housing Act 1996 Part VII.
• Experience in negotiation, mediation, and working with vulnerable individuals to achieve positive housing outcomes.

What's on offer:

Salary: £23+ph

*may negotiate higher for exceptional candidates, based on experience*

Contract type: 3-6 months minimum

Hours: Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week
