We are seeking a compassionate, motivated and experienced Housing Support Officer to join an established provider of supported housing services. This is an exciting opportunity to work with individuals who require housing-related support to maintain their accommodation, develop independence, and achieve positive outcomes.
Working across our Burnley and Preston portfolio, you will provide person-centred tenancy support, intensive housing management services, and practical guidance to residents with a range of support needs. You will play a key role in helping residents sustain their tenancies while ensuring properties remain safe, compliant, and maintained to a high standard.
About the Role
The successful candidate will work closely with residents, local authorities, healthcare professionals, probation services, social care teams, and other partner agencies to coordinate support and ensure residents can access the services they need.
This is a varied and rewarding role requiring a proactive, organised and compassionate individual who can balance housing management responsibilities with person-centred support delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete housing-related needs assessments and participate in referral and allocation processes.
- Conduct accompanied property viewings and risk assessments.
- Deliver intensive housing management and tenancy sustainment support.
- Support residents with housing benefit claims, council tax assistance, budgeting, debt management, and tenancy-related administration.
- Develop, implement and review individual support plans and risk assessments.
- Carry out regular property inspections, room checks, and health and safety compliance checks.
- Work collaboratively with agencies including NHS services, Adult Social Care, Probation Services, and local authorities.
- Signpost residents to specialist services including mental health, substance misuse, employment, education, and community support services.
- Respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns and complete referrals where required.
- Address anti-social behaviour issues in accordance with organisational procedures.
- Support residents to engage positively within their communities and shared accommodation environments.
- Coordinate repairs, maintenance access, and contractor visits.
- Maintain accurate records, reports, support notes, and resident documentation.
- Support residents to move on to independent accommodation where appropriate.
- Attend team meetings, training sessions, and contribute to continuous service improvement.
Essential
- Minimum of 1 year's experience working within supported housing or a similar environment.
- Full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle.
- Ability to work independently and effectively manage a caseload.
- Strong communication, organisation, and interpersonal skills.
- Competence in using IT systems for record-keeping and communication.
- Understanding of housing management and tenancy sustainment.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable adults.
- Flexible approach to working across multiple locations and responding to service needs.
- Experience working with vulnerable adults and complex support needs.
- Knowledge of welfare benefits and housing legislation.
- Experience of multi-agency working.
- Understanding of risk management, safeguarding, and support planning.
