Location: Birmingham (Head Office with travel across the city)
Salary: £35,786 – £37,786 (depending on experience)
Hours: 35 hours per week (flexibility required)
Contract: Permanent

About the Role

We’re working with a, values-driven housing organisation in Birmingham that is dedicated to supporting older people and individuals with disabilities to live independently and with dignity.

They are now looking for a Housing Team Leader to guide a small team delivering high-quality housing management and support services across a range of independent living, supported housing, and almshouse schemes.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll balance operational delivery with team development, ensuring residents receive a safe, compliant, and person-centred service.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll take responsibility for the day-to-day management of a team of Housing Officers, ensuring services are delivered to a high professional standard. Key areas include:

  • Leadership & Team Development: Motivating and supporting your team through coaching, one-to-ones, and performance management
  • Service Delivery: Overseeing housing management, tenancy sustainment, and support services for residents aged 55+
  • Compliance & Quality: Ensuring all services meet housing legislation, regulatory standards, and internal policies
  • Income Management: Driving effective rent collection and arrears management, including legal enforcement where necessary
  • Resident Support & Safeguarding: Promoting independence while identifying and responding to safeguarding concerns
  • Anti-Social Behaviour & Complaints: Leading on complex cases, ensuring fair and effective resolutions
  • Partnership Working: Building strong relationships with local authorities, health services, and community organisations
  • Community Engagement: Supporting initiatives that enhance residents’ wellbeing and involvement

You’ll also deputise for senior management when required and contribute to service improvement and strategic development.

About You

We’re looking for someone who combines strong housing knowledge with people-focused leadership.

You’ll bring:

  • At least 3 years’ experience in social housing, ideally including work with vulnerable residents
  • Experience supervising or supporting others in a senior capacity
  • Strong knowledge of housing legislation, compliance, and welfare benefits
  • Confidence managing complex situations such as arrears, ASB, and safeguarding
  • Excellent organisational and IT skills

You’ll also need:

  • A relevant qualification (or willingness to work towards CIH Level 4)
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
