An established UK manufacturer is seeking a Health, Safety & Environmental Manager to take ownership of site-wide compliance, culture, and continuous improvement. This is a hands-on role driving best practice across HSE systems within a busy production environment.

Description

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement and maintain Health & Safety policies, procedures and systems
  • Lead and deliver a structured HSE activity plan to ensure ongoing compliance
  • Conduct risk assessments, audits, inspections and incident investigations
  • Promote a proactive safety-first culture through training, engagement and leadership
  • Ensure compliance with UK HSE legislation and maintain all relevant certifications
  • Implement and manage environmental systems aligned to ISO 14001 (or equivalent)
  • Drive sustainability initiatives, reducing waste, energy usage and environmental impact
  • Manage environmental compliance including waste, emissions and reporting
  • Collaborate with production teams to maintain Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work
  • Lead HSE committee activity and drive continuous improvement across site
  • Deliver training at all levels and act as the HSE subject matter expert
  • Liaise with external auditors, regulatory bodies and suppliers

Profile

The successful candidate:

  • NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent (essential)
  • Proven HSE experience within manufacturing or production environments
  • Strong knowledge of UK health, safety and environmental legislation
  • Experience implementing and managing ISO 14001 or similar systems
  • Skilled in risk assessment, auditing, investigations and corrective actions
  • Confident communicator with the ability to influence at all levels
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Experience reporting on HSE KPIs and presenting to senior leadership
  • Proactive, hands-on approach with a passion for continuous improvement
