Prospero Teaching is looking to speak with qualified Humanities Teachers (QTS) who are considering new opportunities in the Portsmouth area for a September start. Whether you are actively seeking a new role or simply open to exploring your options, we would be keen to connect.
We work with a number of secondary schools across Portsmouth that regularly require Humanities specialists ahead of the new academic year. By registering with us, we can support you in securing a role that aligns with your subject strengths, experience, and long‑term career plans.
You may have the opportunity to teach subjects such as History, Geography, Religious Studies, or a combination of Humanities disciplines, depending on the school.
The Role:
- Teach Humanities subjects across KS3 and KS4
- Deliver engaging and well‑structured lessons
- Plan, mark, and assess student work effectively
- Support pupils of varying abilities to achieve progress
- Maintain consistent behaviour expectations
- Contribute to departmental planning and school activities
- Follow safeguarding and school policies at all times
Ideal Candidate:
- Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Strong subject knowledge in Humanities (History, Geography, RS, etc.)
- Confident managing a classroom environment
- Effective behaviour management skills
- Organised, proactive, and committed to high standards
- Open to different school environments and opportunities
- Suitable for both experienced teachers and ECTs
Contract Details:
- Position: Humanities Teacher (QTS)
- Location: Portsmouth
- Start Date: September
- Working Pattern: Full‑time
- Pay Rate: £32,916 - £51,047 per annum (M1-U3)
- Key Stages: KS3-KS4
Experience, Training & Safeguarding:
- QTS required
- Secondary Humanities teaching experience preferred
- Safeguarding training can be provided
