Role Overview
Responsible for supporting the installation, testing, commissioning, energisation and operation of High Voltage electrical systems. The role will work alongside the project team, DNO/utility providers and specialist contractors to ensure all HV works are completed safely and in accordance with UK regulations and project requirements.
Typical Duties
- HV cable installation, jointing, termination and testing.
- Support metering and substation interface works.
- Carry out or supervise HV switching and energisation activities.
- Relay protection testing, calibration and commissioning.
- Prepare and review switching schedules and RAMS.
- Coordinate with DNOs, utility providers and client representatives.
- Ensure compliance with UK electrical and safety regulations.
- Provide technical support during commissioning and fault-finding activities.
Essential Experience
- Experience working on 11kV and above electrical distribution systems.
- Previous involvement with substations, switchgear and HV infrastructure.
- Experience of commissioning, energisation and testing activities.
- Knowledge of UK electrical standards and safe systems of work.
- Experience working on large commercial, industrial, infrastructure or energy projects.
Preferred Qualifications
- HNC/HND or Degree in Electrical Engineering (preferred).
- Authorised Person (AP) or Senior Authorised Person (SAP) experience.
- Relevant HV switching authorisations.
- National Grid, DNO, utility, renewables, rail or data centre experience advantageous.
- CSCS/ECS card and relevant safety certifications.
