ILS Engineer
Job Details
The position holder will be responsible to develop and deliver ILS capabilities for equipment during the project development phase, in-service support phase, pre-contract (bid) process and documentation for our client’s solutions / equipment in the Naval, Surveillance and Government market sectors.
As part of this role, the holder is expected to show motivation and initiative in planning their own activities to achieve timely and effective results with minimal supervision. As this can involve customer interaction, a confident manner and smart appearance are required, with the ability to communicate clearly within the company at all levels and with customers whose first language may not be English.
Job Functions
· Develop the ILS capability of the business line to allow a full range of ILS activities to be offered to the customer - depending on the life cycle phase and project this could include following:
- - Supportability Analysis
- - Level of Repair Analysis
- - Spares Ranging & Scaling
- - Whole Life Cost Analysis
- - Logistic Information Repository management and update
- - Obsolescence analysis
· Generate order intake and increased revenue through the provision of ILS services
· Support the Bid Management team in the generation of prices and material required for the presentation of bids covering training and ILS
· Assist in the evaluation of new technology and methods beneficial to the company’s interests and support future ILS and publications requirements
· Support a culture of continuous improvement
· Take a proactive role in the growth and development of the company
· Travel on occasions in the UK and if necessary, overseas, to support the provision of ILS services
· Any other task associated with this role
Requirements
· Ideally qualified to HNC level or higher in an Electronic Engineering discipline
· Must have a good understanding of the support engineering / ILS discipline (essential)
· Must have experience of Def-Stan 00-60 / 00-600 and Defence Logistic Framework (superseding JSP 886) and their tailoring / application to defence programmes (essential)
· Experience of ASD S3000L and its application to supportability analysis programmes (highly desirable)
· Good listener and communicator who effectively conveys information by all modes at all levels within the team
· The successful applicant will be computer literate with a good standard of written English, capable of compiling accurate, detailed and well-presented technical proposals and specifications
· Innovative problem-solver who can generate workable solutions
· Enthusiastic, knowledge-hungry learner, eager to meet challenges and quickly assimilate new concepts
· Ability to work effectively with anyone with different skillsets, personalities, work styles or motivation levels
