Job Title: Imports Manager

 

Are you an experienced Imports Manager, who has managed teams  and are looking to join a busy and fast moving business? This organisation are going through a rapid period of growth and are very well established with a strong company/ team culture.  You will have a degree in Supply Chain/Logistics and will be IT competent including SAP. There is a salary of up to £40,000 plus a fantastic benefits package.

 

The Role:

 

  • Oversee and manage all import operations
  • Coordinating with freight forwarders, suppliers and internal teams
  • Manage end-to-end import processes from order placement to delivery
  • Ensure compliance with UK customs regulations, including HMRC requirements
  • Oversee customs clearance procedures and maintain accurate documentation
  • Liaise with freight forwarders, shipping lines, and customs brokers
  • Monitor shipment schedules and proactively resolve delays or issues
  • Control import costs, including duties, taxes, and freight charges
  • Maintain strong relationships with international suppliers and partners
  • Ensure correct tariff classification (HS codes) and valuation of goods
  • Implement and improve import procedures and processes
  • Manage and develop the import team
  • Create and manage payments
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as lead times and cost efficiency
  • Stay updated on changes in import laws, trade agreements, and compliance requirements

 

About You:


  • Proven experience in import/export or international logistics management
  • As our suppliers are predominantly based in China, Bangladesh, and South East Asia, experience of working with these countries is essential
  • Strong knowledge of UK customs regulations and import procedures
  • Experience working with freight forwarders and customs brokers
  • Familiarity with Incoterms (e.g. FOB, EXW, DAP and DDP)
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and negotiation abilities
  • Proficiency in logistics or ERP systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle)
  • Good understanding of Microsoft Excel and data analysis
