Position: Ocean Import Operator

Location: Eastleigh, Hampshire
Salary: Up to £32,000 DOE
Hours: Monday to Friday 8:30am-17:00pm Hybrid Working Available (2 Days from Home After Probation)

Our client, a well-established and highly respected freight forwarding and logistics business, is seeking an experienced Ocean Import Operator to join their growing team in Eastleigh.

This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with strong ocean import experience who is looking to join a supportive business that offers long-term career development, flexibility, and exposure to additional freight modes.

The Role

You will be responsible for managing end-to-end ocean import shipments, ensuring cargo is moved efficiently from origin through to final delivery while providing a high level of customer service throughout the process.

The successful candidate will be confident handling ocean imports independently and have a strong understanding of import customs procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing full-cycle ocean import shipments from booking through to final delivery and invoicing.
• Handling customer enquiries and providing regular shipment updates.
• Liaising with shipping lines, hauliers, overseas agents, and customers.
• Completing import customs entries via CDS.
• Coordinating deliveries and transport arrangements.
• Managing shipment documentation and ensuring compliance with customs regulations.
• Resolving operational issues and maintaining excellent customer service standards.
• Processing costs and raising invoices accurately.

Requirements

• Previous experience managing end-to-end ocean import operations.
• Experience completing import customs clearances via CDS (essential).
• Strong understanding of freight forwarding processes and import documentation.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple shipments and deadlines simultaneously.

Desirable Experience

• Air freight operations.
• Road freight operations.

While ocean imports will form the core of the role, our client is happy to provide cross-training in air and road freight for candidates looking to broaden their freight forwarding experience.
