The Role
The Infrastructure & Backup Engineer – L4 is responsible for the design, delivery, and ongoing operation of resilient infrastructure and data protection solutions for financial services customers.
This is a senior, hands-on technical role where you will act as a subject matter expert across infrastructure, backup, and recovery, as well as a key escalation point for complex environments. You will play a critical role in ensuring services are secure, compliant, highly available, and aligned to regulatory and operational resilience requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and support infrastructure across on-prem, private cloud, and Azure environments
- Deliver enterprise-grade backup and recovery solutions aligned to RPO/RTO requirements
- Lead backup, restore, and disaster recovery planning, testing, and validation
- Ensure infrastructure and backup services are performant, stable, and secure
- Act as L4 escalation for complex infrastructure and recovery issues
- Lead root cause analysis for major incidents and recovery failures
- Provide technical leadership during high-risk changes and outages
- Support customer implementations, migrations, and technical delivery
- Contribute to pre-sales solution design and technical assurance
- Ensure solutions meet time, cost, quality, and regulatory requirements
- Support service transition into live environments with full operational readiness
- Maintain lifecycle management including upgrades, refreshes, and decommissioning
- Support audits, risk assessments, and regulatory compliance activities
Experience & Knowledge
Essential:
- Strong experience in senior infrastructure engineering roles
- Expertise in backup and recovery technologies and testing strategies
- Experience with Azure and private cloud infrastructure environments
- Strong understanding of disaster recovery and operational resilience
- Experience supporting regulated or financial services environments
- Strong solution design, implementation, and troubleshooting capability
Desirable:
- Experience within managed services environments
- Knowledge of backup tools (e.g. Veeam, Commvault, Rubrik)
- Experience with hybrid and Azure IaaS architectures
- Understanding of ITIL and service transition models
- Awareness of compliance standards (e.g. FCA, ISO, PCI-DSS)
