Sizewell C will be a 3.2-gigawatt power station generating low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes and will play a key role in our energy future, supplying reliable, clean electricity for at least 60 years. This role will be within the Marine and Tunnels Section.

What will you do?

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Instrumentation & Monitoring (I&M) Geotechnical Manager to lead all geotechnical instrumentation, monitoring, interpretation, and reporting activities for a major underground infrastructure project involving onshore shafts and undersea tunnelling works executed using both Slurry and Earth Pressure Balance (EPB) Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs).

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and managing the project-wide instrumentation and monitoring strategy to ensure safe excavation, asset protection, environmental compliance, and real-time risk mitigation throughout shaft sinking, and tunnel excavation operations.

Key Responsibilities

Geotechnical Instrumentation & Monitoring Management

  • Develop and implement the Instrumentation & Monitoring Plan in accordance with project specifications, design requirements, and international standards.
  • Manage monitoring systems for:
  • Ground movement and settlement.
  • Building and infrastructure deformation.
  • Tunnel convergence.
  • Shaft behaviour.
  • Marine and seabed monitoring.
