A global engineering business operating in the live events and experiences sector is looking for a Junior Mechanical Design Engineer at its Haverhill site. The company designs and manufactures complex mechanical systems and structures for large-scale live events, touring productions, and permanent installations worldwide. This is an ideal opportunity for a graduate or early-career engineer looking to develop real design capability on genuinely interesting projects, supported by experienced engineers throughout.
What you'll be doing:
- Supporting mechanical design work from concept through to detailed design
- Producing and updating engineering drawings and basic bills of materials
- Working on assigned assemblies and sub-systems under guidance from senior engineers
- Carrying out engineering calculations using hand calculations, Excel, and specialist tools
- Supporting design reviews and implementing feedback
- Assisting with bid and proposal work where required
- Supporting production and project teams during design handover
- Updating drawings from red-lines and responding to manufacturing queries
- Supporting inspections and Factory Acceptance Testing where required
- Learning and following company safety, quality, and design processes
What you need:
- Degree or HND in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- Graduate level or up to two years of relevant industry experience
- Basic understanding of mechanical design principles and engineering drawings
- Interest in mechanical systems, mechanisms, and engineered structures
- Comfortable working as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team
- Basic IT skills including Excel and CAD software
- Exposure to CAD, FEA, or design calculations beneficial but not essential
