The Role
As a Junior Naval Architect, you will play an active role across a diverse portfolio of projects, working closely with experienced engineers and naval architects. This position is suited to someone with 2 to 3 years of industry experience who is looking to further develop their technical capability and take on greater project responsibility.
From early-stage concept design through to build support and analysis, you will gain exposure to a broad range of technical challenges and vessel types, contributing directly to project delivery from day one.
The company actively supports professional development, including progression toward Chartership.
Key Responsibilities
Undertaking technical calculations and providing input on vessel performance including motions, stability, and structural strength
Performing stability assessments and structural design calculations in line with Classification Society requirements
Supporting engineering projects through design reviews, hydrodynamic analysis, data interpretation, and performance simulations
Producing and reviewing 2D and 3D CAD models and drawings using AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks
Reviewing technical documentation and calculation packages prepared by internal teams and external consultants
Liaising with Classification Societies and Flag Administrations to ensure regulatory compliance
Attending site visits including inclining experiments, deadweight surveys, equipment testing, and shipyard inspections
Contributing to projects across a wide range of vessel types including ferries, high-speed craft, Ro-Ro vessels, cargo ships, and tankers
About You
Degree qualified (BEng, MEng, MSc or equivalent) in Naval Architecture, Ship Science, or a related discipline
2 to 3 years of relevant industry experience in naval architecture or marine engineering
Proficiency in 3D CAD software such as AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks
Strong understanding of vessel design, structures, and stability principles
Experience with engineering tools and software, with some exposure to FEA packages (such as Ansys) desirable
Confident in data analysis, technical reporting, and engineering problem-solving
Knowledge of Classification Society and Flag State regulations is advantageous
Strong communication skills with a proactive and adaptable approach to work
