About the Role

An established automotive manufacturing company is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead and coordinate the successful delivery of customer projects from initial prototype stages through to low-volume production. This is a hands-on role requiring strong organisational, communication, and leadership skills to ensure projects are delivered on time, within specification, and to the highest quality standards.

The successful candidate will take ownership of multiple concurrent projects, acting as the key link between customers and internal departments, ensuring all resources, documentation, and production requirements are aligned to meet project objectives.

Shift - Fixed days - Salary £40,000 - £45,000 DOE

Key Responsibilities

  • Review new project information and establish project plans, timelines, and tracking documentation.
  • Evaluate project schedules and identify any risks to achieving key milestones.
  • Lead cross-functional project meetings, driving actions and ensuring progress remains on track.
  • Monitor and maintain project status reports, providing regular updates to stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with production teams to ensure capacity, resources, and manpower are available to meet build schedules.
  • Work closely with customers, providing progress updates and attending meetings as required.
  • Ensure manufacturing documentation and production routes are in place to support project delivery.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure tooling, processes, and technical documentation are available and ready for production.
  • Oversee project quality requirements, ensuring all approvals and documentation are completed prior to customer shipment.
  • Support the transition of projects into production, ensuring stable processes, adequate capacity, and a smooth handover to operational teams.
  • Identify and manage project risks, implementing corrective actions where required.

Candidate Requirements

Essential

  • Proven experience in a Project Management role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively across engineering, production, quality, and commercial functions.
  • Excellent planning, organisational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Commercial awareness and customer-focused approach.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to influence and motivate others.

Desirable

  • Experience within the automotive sector, particularly prototype, low-volume, or specialist vehicle manufacturing.
  • Professional Project Management qualification (PRINCE2, PMP, APMP or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of New Product Introduction (NPI) processes.
  • Continuous improvement and lean manufacturing experience.
