Are you a caring, enthusiastic, and proactive Teaching Assistant looking to make a real difference in a KS1 setting?
We are working with a welcoming primary school seeking a dedicated KS1 Teaching Assistant to support pupils across Key Stage 1, including children with Special Educational Needs (SEN). This is a rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about early years and primary education, who enjoys supporting children in small groups and helping them build confidence in their learning.
About the RoleAs a KS1 Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers and the SENCO to support pupils’ academic, social, and emotional development. The role will involve providing SEN support, leading small-group interventions, and creating a positive and inclusive learning environment where every child can thrive.
Your Responsibilities
- Support pupils across KS1 with their learning and development
- Provide targeted SEN support on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
- Lead small-group interventions in phonics, literacy, and numeracy
- Help children develop confidence, communication, and social skills
- Support classroom routines, transitions, and positive behaviour strategies
- Assist the teacher with lesson preparation and classroom organisation
- Create a nurturing, safe, and engaging learning environment
- Work collaboratively with teachers, the SENCO, and support staff
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths (Grades 4–9)
- Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant in a primary school
- Experience supporting children with SEN is essential
- Confidence working with small groups and leading interventions
- A patient, positive, and proactive attitude
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A genuine passion for supporting children’s learning and well-being
