Are you a caring, enthusiastic, and proactive Teaching Assistant looking to make a real difference in a KS1 setting?
We are working with a welcoming primary school seeking a dedicated KS1 Teaching Assistant to support pupils across Key Stage 1, including children with Special Educational Needs (SEN). This is a rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about early years and primary education, who enjoys supporting children in small groups and helping them build confidence in their learning.
About the RoleAs a KS1 Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers and the SENCO to support pupils’ academic, social, and emotional development. The role will involve providing SEN support, leading small-group interventions, and creating a positive and inclusive learning environment where every child can thrive.
Your Responsibilities
  • Support pupils across KS1 with their learning and development
  • Provide targeted SEN support on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
  • Lead small-group interventions in phonics, literacy, and numeracy
  • Help children develop confidence, communication, and social skills
  • Support classroom routines, transitions, and positive behaviour strategies
  • Assist the teacher with lesson preparation and classroom organisation
  • Create a nurturing, safe, and engaging learning environment
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, the SENCO, and support staff
What We’re Looking For
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths (Grades 4–9)
  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant in a primary school
  • Experience supporting children with SEN is essential
  • Confidence working with small groups and leading interventions
  • A patient, positive, and proactive attitude
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A genuine passion for supporting children’s learning and well-being
