Lecturer in Childcare and Personal Development (0.6)
We are seeking an enthusiastic educator with a strong Early Years background to teach Childcare and Personal Development programmes to both 14 to 16 and post 16 learners. This is an ideal opportunity for a lecturer, teacher or experienced Early Years professional who is passionate about helping young people develop the skills, confidence and independence needed for their next steps.
As a Lecturer within our 14 to 16 provision and Pre Vocational Programme (PVP) team, you will join our Ofsted rated Good College Group, supporting two distinct learner cohorts to develop the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to progress successfully into further education, employment and adult life. In this role, you will teach 14 to 16 year old school link students (Years 10 and 11) working towards a Gateway Level 1 qualification in Childcare, as well as post 16 PVP learners (Years 12 and 13) completing a Gateway Level 1 Diploma in Progression.
Drawing on your Early Years expertise, you will deliver engaging and accessible lessons across a varied curriculum covering key topics such as child development, health and safety, nutrition, communication and play. The curriculum offers flexibility, allowing you to utilise your own knowledge and experience while ensuring learners gain the practical and theoretical skills required to achieve their qualifications.
Working closely with Learning Support Assistants, you will adapt your teaching to meet a wide range of learning needs, creating an inclusive environment where all learners can participate, progress and succeed. You will use regular assessment to monitor progress, identify gaps in learning and support continuous improvement. You will also play an important role in promoting attendance, supporting student wellbeing and embedding literacy, numeracy and essential life skills throughout the curriculum.
We are looking for an educator with strong Early Years knowledge who can engage and motivate young people from a variety of backgrounds and starting points. Ideally, you will have experience of teaching learners aged 14 to 16 or 16 to 19 and be confident supporting students who require additional guidance to achieve their potential. Experience of delivering PSHE, personal development or life skills programmes would be highly advantageous, as these skills are particularly valuable when supporting learners studying the Level 1 Diploma in Progression.
Applications are welcomed from qualified teachers, lecturers, assessors, trainers and experienced Early Years professionals with relevant teaching or training experience. Above all, you will be a positive role model, an effective communicator and a collaborative team player who is passionate about helping young people develop the confidence, resilience and skills needed for future success.
