We’re working with a respected specialist land-based college in Northamptonshire to recruit a Lecturer/Skills Coach in Arboriculture and Forestry. This is a brilliant opportunity for someone with strong arboriculture industry experience who is ready to support the next generation of tree care and woodland management professionals.
The college offers excellent practical learning environments, including extensive woodland, arboretum resources, specialist machinery workshops and industry-standard equipment. You’ll be joining a curriculum area that gives learners hands-on experience with chainsaws, climbing equipment, mobile elevated platforms, brushwood chippers and woodland management techniques.
The role
As a Lecturer/Skills Coach, you’ll act as a course tutor and support learners across Arboriculture and Forestry programmes. You’ll help plan and deliver engaging practical and theory-based sessions, monitor attendance and progress, and support learners to develop the technical, professional and employability skills they need for the sector.
You’ll also contribute to curriculum development, work closely with students and trainees, and ensure programmes remain responsive to industry standards and expectations.
What you’ll be doing
You will:
Support the planning, delivery and assessment of Arboriculture and Forestry courses
Act as a course tutor, providing guidance, support and progress monitoring
Deliver practical demonstrations and hands-on activities with students and trainees
Help learners build confidence in tree work, woodland management and machinery use
Support learner achievement, attendance and progression
Contribute to a safe, inclusive and high-quality learning environment
Work with colleagues to keep the curriculum relevant and industry focused
What we’re looking for
You’ll need:
Experience working in the arboriculture industry
A Level 3 Forestry, Arboriculture or Woodland Management qualification
QCF Level 2 qualifications in chainsaw maintenance, felling and processing trees, and accessing trees using rope and harness
A teaching qualification, or willingness to work towards one
Assessor and/or verifier qualifications, or willingness to work towards these
GCSE Maths and English at grade C/4 or equivalent
This role would suit an experienced arboriculture professional who enjoys mentoring others and wants to move into teaching, as well as an existing lecturer or skills coach looking for a new permanent opportunity in a specialist land-based setting.
