The Burford Recruitment Company is delighted to be working on behalf of a well-established and growing legal services group to recruit a Legal Cashier to join their professional finance team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an organised and detail-focused individual to join a fast-paced environment, where accuracy, efficiency and compliance are key. The role will suit someone who enjoys working with high volumes, managing multiple priorities and collaborating across teams.
Responsibilities:
- Process receipts and payments accurately and in a timely manner
- Manage the movement of client and office funds in line with Solicitors’ Accounts Rules (SARs)
- Check completion statements and supporting documentation
- Assist with billing and ensure transactions are recorded correctly
- Process payments to clients, lenders and third parties
- Act as a key point of contact for internal teams, supporting finance-related queries
- Assist with resolving residual balances on client accounts
- Process purchase invoices and ensure payments are made within agreed term
- Support the Lead Legal Cashier and Finance Manager with month-end tasks
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance at all times
- You will work across different areas of the business as part of a structured team rota, gaining valuable exposure to multiple legal entities within the group.
Skills & Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience within a finance, accounts or transactional role (AR/AP)
- Strong understanding of processing payments, receipts and ledger accounting
- Previous legal finance experience would be advantageous
- A qualification in accounting or bookkeeping would be beneficial
- Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Confident communicator, both written and verbal
- Ability to work to deadlines and remain calm under pressure
- Proactive, flexible and eager to learn
- A positive, team-focused approach with a ‘can do’ attitude
