Rubicon Consulting is currently recruiting for Logistics Coordinator on a 6 Month Contract, based in Staffordshire
Role Summary
The Logistics Co-ordinator is responsible for managing the efficient and compliant movement of goods into and out of the UK, with a primary focus on exports to Europe. This role supports road freight shipments, express courier movements, customer returns, and import clearance activity, while ensuring full compliance with customs procedures, Incoterms 2020, and relevant regulatory requirements
The role also plays an important part in driving process discipline, supporting operational continuity, and providing guidance across import/export activities. The successful candidate will bring strong technical knowledge of international logistics and customs compliance, together with the ability to lead and support others within the function.
Key Responsibilities
Export Operations
- Coordinate the export of goods from the UK to Europe, primarily via road freight.
- Arrange shipment of low-volume, low-weight goods using DHL Express and other courier services as required.
- Ensure all export documentation is accurate, complete, and issued in a timely manner.
- Liaise with freight forwarders, carriers, customs agents, and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth shipment execution.
- Monitor shipments through to delivery and resolve any issues or delays proactively.
Returns Management
- Arrange collection and return of non-compliant goods from UK customers back to the Stafford factory.
- Ensure returned goods are managed in line with the correct customs and transport procedures.
- Coordinate with internal teams to ensure efficient handling of returned materials.
Import Operations
- Provide import clearance instructions for goods purchased from overseas, including customer returns, samples, and other inbound shipments.
- Ensure the correct Customs Procedure Codes (CPC) are applied for all relevant import transactions.
- Work closely with customs brokers and logistics providers to ensure import declarations are completed accurately and compliantly.
- Support the timely clearance of inbound goods to avoid delays or unnecessary cost.
Compliance and Governance
- Ensure all import and export activity is conducted in compliance with Incoterms 2020, UK customs requirements, and company procedures.
- Maintain a strong understanding of IPR (Inward Processing Relief) licensing requirements and support compliance with all associated obligations.
- Help ensure that customs records, declarations, and supporting documentation are retained and managed appropriately.
- Identify and escalate compliance risks, shipment exceptions, or process gaps in a timely manner.
- Support continuous improvement of logistics and customs processes to strengthen operational robustness and reduce risk.
Requirements
Skills and Experience
- Proven experience in a logistics, import/export, or customs-related role
- Experience managing exports to Europe, particularly via road freight and express courier services
- Good working knowledge of customs clearance processes for both imports and exports
- Experience working with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and courier providers
- Understanding of compliance requirements relating to returned goods, samples, and overseas purchases
- Experience in a manufacturing or operational environment is desirable
Qualifications
- Relevant experience in logistics, customs, international trade, or supply chain operations
- Formal qualifications in logistics, international trade, or customs compliance are desirable but not essential
