Fresh People are currently recruiting for a Maintenance Engineer to join a well-established fresh produce business based in Sittingbourne, Kent.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer to join a fast-paced FMCG environment supporting production and operational reliability across site machinery, conveyors and equipment. The role will involve both planned preventative maintenance and reactive breakdown support within a busy operational setting.

The Role

You will be responsible for carrying out maintenance, repairs and inspections across production and operational equipment to ensure machinery downtime is kept to a minimum and site operations continue to run efficiently. You will support both preventative maintenance schedules and reactive engineering activities across the site.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across machinery and operational equipment
• Respond to machinery breakdowns and complete reactive repairs efficiently
• Diagnose and fault find on mechanical and electrical equipment
• Support conveyor systems, production machinery and operational equipment reliability
• Complete maintenance inspections and maintain accurate engineering records
• Work safely in line with health & safety procedures and safe systems of work
• Liaise with contractors and support engineering compliance activities where required
• Support continuous improvement activities to improve equipment performance and minimise downtime
• Maintain high housekeeping and engineering standards across the site

Skills & Experience

• Previous experience within a Maintenance Engineer, Multi-Skilled Engineer or Mechanical Maintenance Engineer role
• Experience working within FMCG, fresh produce, food manufacturing, warehouse automation or industrial environments
• Strong mechanical fault-finding and maintenance capability
• Experience carrying out planned preventative maintenance and reactive breakdown repairs
• Experience working on machinery, conveyors, MHE or production equipment
• Understanding of health & safety procedures and engineering compliance
• Good communication and problem-solving skills
• Good understanding of safe systems of work within operational environments
• Full UK driving licence
• Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced operational environment
• Multi-skilled mechanical/electrical experience would be advantageous
• 17th / 18th Edition qualification would be beneficial
• Experience within fresh produce or food manufacturing environments
• Exposure to packaging machinery or automated systems

Shift Pattern

• 06:00–18:00 4 on 4 off
