Maintenance Engineer
Nights | 4 on, 4 off | 18:00 to 06:00
Lincoln Fresh | Permanent | £56,160 per annum
We are looking for a Maintenance Engineer to join our engineering team at Lincoln Fresh on the night shift. This role is for someone who takes planned maintenance seriously, works methodically under pressure, and understands that a good fault record is as important as the repair itself.
We are moving away from a culture of reactive firefighting and building a department where planned, preventative work is the norm and data drives decisions. The night shift engineer is central to that.
What you will be doing
•Working through the PPM schedule each shift as your first priority, completing and recording every task on the CMMS before you finish.
•Responding to electrical and mechanical breakdowns methodically, diagnosing root causes rather than applying temporary fixes where it can be avoided.
•Logging every job with a full record: fault found, work done, parts used, time taken. The quality of your records directly shapes how we improve.
•Raising emerging issues in the shift handover so that anything you cannot resolve during your shift gets picked up and prioritised rather than forgotten.
•Feeding observations and fault patterns back to the Shift Senior and Maintenance Manager to support root cause investigations.
•Applying safe isolation procedures to every job, when required, on plant and equipment, without exception.
•Maintaining hygiene standards in the workshop and across anything you return to production.
•Acting as the primary engineering resource on site during the night shift and knowing when to escalate.
What we are looking for
Essential
•Engineering qualification to City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3, or equivalent in an electrical or mechanical discipline.
•Hands-on experience in a maintenance role within food manufacturing, FMCG, or a comparable process environment.
•Competent in both electrical and mechanical fault diagnosis and repair.
•Solid understanding of safe isolation and lockout/tagout procedures.
•Experience completing and recording tasks on a CMMS system.
•Able to work independently on nights, managing your own priorities and making sound technical judgements without direct supervision.
Desirable
•17th or 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations.
•Ability to navigate PLC ladder logic (Allen Bradley or Siemens) for fault diagnosis.
•Experience in a BRC-audited or similar food safety environment.
•Familiarity with MaintainX, Shire, or a similar CMMS platform.
•Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems in a production context.
What we offer
•Salary of £56,160 per annum.
•4 on, 4 off shift pattern giving you regular blocks of time away from work.
•Enhanced pension contributions and pension salary sacrifice scheme.
•Discretionary performance-related bonus.
•Life assurance policy.
•Overtime payments.
•Critical illness cover.
•Employee Assistance Programme with a wide range of wellbeing support including (email address removed).
•Discounts with a number of popular retailers.
