Job Title – Maintenance Engineer
Location – Trafford Park, Greater Manchester
Salary – £42,770 - £50,641 (DOE)
Shift – Monday to Friday, 7:45am – 5:00pm
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Maintenance Engineer to join a well-established heavy industrial operation within the recycling sector. This is a secure, long-term position with a business that has continued to invest in its facilities, equipment, and people, offering engineers a varied and hands-on role working on large-scale industrial plant.
Working as part of the maintenance team and reporting directly to the Team Leader, you will be responsible for carrying out both planned preventative maintenance and reactive breakdown repairs to ensure maximum uptime across the site's critical assets.
The role is predominantly based outdoors and offers exposure to a wide range of heavy industrial equipment including shears, balers, shredders, conveyor systems, metal sorting equipment, cranes, wheel loaders and bulldozers.

Non-Negotiable Requirements of the Maintenance Engineer-
Maintenance experience within a heavy industrial environment

Mechanical or Electrical Engineering qualification (Level 3 or equivalent)

Experience testing and fault-finding hydraulic circuits
-
Understanding of valves and solenoids
-
Experience rebuilding or resealing hydraulic cylinders, pumps, valves or actuators

Welding experience
-
Previous experience within scrap metal, recycling, quarrying, mining, waste processing or similar heavy industrial sectors

Forces / Ex-Military Engineers welcomed

Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on plant and equipment

Complete maintenance documentation through the CMMS system

Raise and review permits, risk assessments and method statements

Investigate equipment failures and implement corrective actions

Attend maintenance and progress meetings as required

Ensure compliance with company safety procedures and policies

Report hazards, defects and unsafe working conditions

Support continuous improvement activities across the site
