Location: Wellingborough (must live within a commutable distance)

Hours: Days only 0800 -1630 - no shift pattern, minimal call‑out

Salary: £41,375 + excellent benefits

The Role

As a mechanical maintenance engineer, you will be involved in the following

  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance to maximise uptime and equipment performance.
  • Responding quickly and effectively to mechanical breakdowns to minimise disruption.
  • Diagnosing and repairing faults across a range of production machinery.
  • Working safely in line with SSOW, risk assessments, SOPs and company policies.
  • Completing PPMs and reactive tasks within agreed timeframes.
  • Maintaining accurate maintenance records (manual and electronic).
  • Ensuring all repairs are validated by engineering supervision and production teams.
  • Keeping the workshop organised, safe and compliant, including correct parts usage.
  • Participating in limited call‑out cover and supporting during absence periods.

Experience Required

To be considered for this role, the successful candidate will have the following

  • Experience with machinery such as granulators, conveyors, hammermills, extrusion equipment, colour separators, gearboxes, bearings, rollers and shafts.
  • Level 3 Mechanical Engineering qualification (preferred).
  • Strong diagnostic and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
  • A proactive, solutions‑focused mindset with a passion for continuous improvement.
  • Excellent communication skills and a strong team ethic.
  • Confident using PC‑based software.
  • Reliable, organised and committed to high standards.
