A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Maintenance Manager to join a premier manufacturing site in Leicestershire. This role focuses on proactive engineering, equipment reliability and exciting capital projects. The modern site features recent investment with significant future upgrades already planned to secure long-term growth.

You will support the Engineering Manager to lead the on-site engineering team, manage workloads and drive performance. You will oversee daily breakdowns, mentor staff and collaborate with production and the quality team to hit targets. It is the perfect balance of strategic leadership, team development and hands-on technical management.

Roles and responsibilities as a Maintenance Manager:

  • Ensure optimum plant and equipment efficiency while minimising downtime.
  • Lead and organise the engineering team, ensuring sufficient cover is always in place to support business needs.
  • Optimise maintenance management procedures and PPM schedules to improve site performance.
  • Develop cost reduction initiatives and undertake small capital projects as required.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for major or repeating breakdowns and train the team to do the same.
  • Hold routine meetings with your team and attend shop floor production meetings to maintain clear communication.
  • Work closely with production staff to achieve daily targets and update them on engineering tasks.
  • Collaborate with QA to ensure audit actions are closed out within appropriate timescales.
  • Support compliance management to meet all statutory requirements, audits and site accreditation's.
  • Enforce site rules, health and safety procedures, and control measures for contractors and visitors, including issuing permits.
  • Coach and mentor your team, managing holidays, absences and any disciplinary issues.
  • Ensure completion of all maintenance hand-back sheets, dynamic risk assessments, and CMMS logging.
  • Provide technical support to the team and keep the Engineering Manager informed of significant helath and safety or production issues.

Qualifications and experience needed for this Maintenance Manager role:

  • Electrically biased engineer qualification or background.
  • Fast-paced manufacturing experience, preferably within the food industry.
  • Significant leadership experience with a proven ability to manage, inspire and motivate engineering teams.
  • Strong understanding of legal compliance and department health, safety and environmental procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate across different departments.
  • Proven capability to prioritise workloads effectively under pressure.
  • Commitment to working to exceptionally high engineering and manufacturing standards.
