Job Overview
We are seeking a male Somali-speaking complex care support worker to provide dedicated, person-centred care to a young boy with complex health needs in a home and community setting in London.
The young person has a strong preference for male carers and benefits significantly from a support worker who can communicate fluently in Somali, helping ensure comfort, trust, and effective day-to-day communication with both the child and family.
This is a rewarding role requiring compassion, reliability, and experience in complex care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 complex care support in the home and community
- Assist with personal care and daily living activities
- Support with clinical needs as trained (e.g. PEG feeding, seizure management, oxygen support if applicable)
- Maintain accurate care records and follow care plans
- Work closely with family members and healthcare professionals
- Ensure the child’s safety, dignity, and comfort at all times
- Provide emotional reassurance and companionship
Essential Requirements
- Must be male (client preference)
- Fluent in Somali and English
- Previous experience in complex care or care assistant roles
- DBS check (or willingness to undergo one)
- Right to work in the UK
- Ability to follow detailed care plans
- Compassionate, patient, and reliable
Desirable
- Experience working with children or paediatric care
- Tracheostomy/PEG/epilepsy training (or willingness to be trained)
- Manual handling and safeguarding training
Training & Support
Full training can be provided for the right candidate, including complex care clinical skills where required.
