Management Accountant

Headstar

If you've never worked in a manufacturing environment, this probably isn't the role for you.

This Ossett based business is looking for a Management Accountant to become a key part of its finance team. This isn't a reporting role where you'll disappear into spreadsheets all day. You'll be heavily involved with the operational side of the business, partnering with managers, supporting decision-making and taking ownership of a broad range of accounting responsibilities.

It's a role that offers genuine variety, visibility across the business and the opportunity to make a real impact.

What you'll be doing:

You'll take ownership of the monthly management accounts process from start to finish, ensuring accurate and timely reporting while providing meaningful insight into business performance.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Producing monthly consolidated management accounts
  • Stock reconciliations and stock movement accounting
  • Reviewing journals and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Variance analysis and commentary against budget and prior year
  • VAT returns and compliance reporting
  • Cashflow forecasting and longer-term financial planning
  • Supporting audits and year-end processes
  • Payroll preparation for approximately 110 employees
  • Business partnering with operational and budget managers
  • Producing ad hoc financial analysis and management reports
  • Supporting and developing a junior member of the finance team
  • Acting as a key user of the company's ERP system

What they're looking for:

You'll need previous experience working within a manufacturing environment and a strong understanding of stock accounting and inventory controls. That's not a nice-to-have; it's essential.

Beyond that, they're looking for someone who:

  • Has experience producing management accounts from start to finish
  • Understands balance sheet control and month-end processes
  • Enjoys analysing numbers and explaining the story behind them
  • Can build strong relationships with non-finance stakeholders
  • Is comfortable working in a hands-on, fast-paced environment
  • Is studying towards, fully qualified, or qualified by experience

What’s in it for you?

  • An annual salary of up to £45k DOE (+ study support if required)
  • 23 days annual leave + your birthday off + bank holidays (with the option to buy more)
  • Medicash plan
