Role Overview
The Marketing Manager will lead and deliver the full marketing and promotional strategy for the hotel, driving brand awareness, customer engagement, direct bookings, and revenue growth across all departments of the business.
This is a hands-on role requiring a creative and commercially focused individual with strong digital marketing expertise, hospitality sales awareness, and the ability to create compelling campaigns that increase occupancy, bookings, event enquiries, food and beverage revenue, spa utilisation, and wedding/conference sales.
A key element of the role will be supporting the hotel’s future rebrand and transition into the Garner by IHG brand, helping to establish and strengthen the identity and market presence of Garner South Devon Gateway. The successful candidate will work closely with both hotel leadership and brand standards to ensure all marketing activity aligns with the wider IHG brand framework while retaining strong local market appeal and customer engagement.
The role will involve managing all areas of marketing including website management, SEO, PPC advertising, social media strategy, email campaigns, content creation, promotional activity, public relations, and local/national brand exposure, ensuring the hotel is positioned as a leading hospitality destination within South Devon and the wider regional market.
Key Responsibilities
Marketing Strategy & Brand Development
- Develop and implement a comprehensive annual marketing strategy aligned with hotel revenue targets.
- Increase direct bookings and reduce reliance on third-party booking platforms.
- Maintain and strengthen the Passage House Hotel brand identity across all channels.
- Plan and execute seasonal and promotional campaigns across accommodation, dining, spa, weddings, conferences, and events.
- Identify new revenue opportunities and market segments.
Digital Marketing
- Manage and optimise the hotel website to improve user experience, enquiries, and conversions.
- Oversee SEO strategy including:
- Keyword optimisation
- High-intent search wording
- Metadata and on-page SEO
- Local SEO optimisation
- Backlink development
- Technical SEO improvements
- Manage PPC campaigns including:
- Google Ads
- Meta advertising
- Retargeting campaigns
- Budget monitoring and ROI analysis

- Produce and optimise blogs and content marketing initiatives to increase organic traffic and authority.

Social Media & Content Creation
- Plan, create, and schedule engaging social media content across platforms including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, and other relevant channels.

- Monitor competitor activity and industry trends.
Email Marketing & CRM
- Develop and manage email marketing campaigns.
- Build segmented customer databases and targeted mailing lists.
- Design automated customer journeys and promotional campaigns.

Public Relations & Community Engagement
- Build relationships with local and national media contacts.

Essential Experience
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a marketing role, preferably within hospitality, hotels, leisure, tourism, or events.
- Proven success managing digital marketing campaigns with measurable ROI.
- Experience in website management and CMS platforms.
- Strong understanding of SEO, PPC, content marketing, and social media strategy.
- Experience creating engaging written and visual content.
- Experience using analytics and reporting tools.
