About the Role
We are looking for a Materials Control Coordinator to join our Procurement team at Lincat. You will become part of a small, experienced team responsible for ensuring all production component requirements are met by working to forecasts and production plans.
The role involves placing and scheduling orders, coordinating deliveries and responding to production changes, which may require challenging suppliers to deliver outside of standard lead times. You will also be responsible for managing stock levels in line with global guidelines while supporting the smooth and efficient running of the supply chain operation.
Hours of work
This role is based on 37.5 hours per week, working Monday to Friday.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
- Successfully expedite shipment of components to meet production requirements by communicating effectively and building strong relationships with suppliers.
- Managing order books to ensure deliveries are made on time and in full through regular contact with suppliers worldwide via telephone and email.
- Continually analyse component demand and take appropriate action to ensure production and spare parts orders are fulfilled.
- Proactively anticipate and communicate potential component shortages to appropriate colleagues.
- Review and place purchase order requirements using the Material Requirements Planning (MRP) system.
- Place and administer works order requirements.
- Handle day-to-day component queries, stock adjustments and general administration duties.
- Attend weekly shortage meeting and report risks to the production team.
- Support team members as and when required with materials control objectives.
Essential Skills and Knowledge:
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with both internal and external contacts via telephone, email, and face-to-face communication.
- Ability to work calmly under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Able to work proactively and on own initiative to identify and prioritise workload, while recognising when to seek advice or support.
- Strong attention to detail, with a good standard of written and spoken English and numeracy skills.
- Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and other software as required.
- Previous general administration experience.
