Mechanical Construction Manager – Major Life Sciences Project - Oxford

About the Company:

Our client is a highly regarded Tier 1 M&E Contractor with an outstanding reputation for delivering complex and technically challenging projects across the life sciences, pharmaceutical, data centre, and commercial construction sectors.

Due to continued growth and a strong secured pipeline of work, they are now seeking an experienced Mechanical Construction Manager to join the team on a flagship life sciences project in Oxford valued at approximately £30m MEP.

The Role

The Mechanical Construction Manager will take ownership of the mechanical delivery on a major high-specification life sciences development, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

Working closely with the Project Manager, subcontractors, consultants, and client teams, you will play a key role in driving programme performance and coordinating all mechanical installation activities through to commissioning and handover.

This position is ideally suited to an ambitious and experienced Mechanical Construction Manager with previous exposure to technically demanding projects within life sciences, pharmaceutical, data centre, or major commercial environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee all mechanical construction activities on site
  • Coordinate subcontractors and specialist suppliers to ensure programme targets are achieved
  • Monitor quality, compliance, and health & safety standards across all mechanical works
  • Work closely with project teams to resolve technical and coordination issues
  • Review drawings, technical specifications, and installation progress
  • Chair and attend site coordination and progress meetings
  • Support commissioning activities and system handovers
  • Ensure works are delivered in line with programme, budget, and client expectations
  • Drive productivity and maintain high standards throughout the project lifecycle

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Construction Manager or Mechanical Site Manager
  • Previous experience delivering large-scale MEP projects within life sciences, pharmaceutical, data centre, healthcare, or commercial sectors
  • Strong understanding of mechanical building services systems and installation processes
  • Experience working for a Tier 1 M&E contractor or main contractor preferred
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders within a fast-paced project environment
  • Strong focus on quality, programme delivery, and health & safety
