Our Client is a global organisation with a strong reputation for precision engineering and innovation, they are expanding their UK team and are looking for a skilled Mechanical Fitter to join their Assembly department in Redhill.

πŸš€ The Role

As a Mechanical Fitter, you'll play a key role in the assembly and build of high-precision testing equipment. Working both independently and as part of a collaborative team, you'll be responsible for delivering quality builds that meet exacting standards.

πŸ› οΈ Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble and build materials testing machines, mechanical and pneumatic grips, and precision instruments
  • Fit mechanical components including wiring looms and electronic displays
  • Operate workshop equipment such as pillar drills, manual lathes, and hand tools
  • Interpret engineering drawings, assembly drawings, and tolerances
  • Ensure parts are correctly prepared, fitted, and adapted for testing
  • Carry out quality checks and maintain high standards of workmanship
  • Complete all required documentation (work orders, timesheets, etc.)
  • Maintain an organised, clean, and safe working environment
  • Collaborate with colleagues across departments and support team objectives
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by suggesting process enhancements

🎯 What We're Looking For

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Apprentice-trained or equivalent (NVQ, HNC, HND or similar in Mechanical Engineering)
  • Strong mechanical engineering background
  • Competent using precision measuring tools (micrometers, verniers, etc.)
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
  • Experience using a range of manual and machine tools
  • Understanding of health and safety best practice
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability

Desirable:

  • City & Guilds, BTEC, or ONC equivalent
  • Experience in a machine build or production environment

⏰ Working Hours
