The Role

As a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, you will play a key part in maintaining essential building services across a live hospital estate. Your work will support patient care by keeping critical mechanical systems safe, compliant and dependable. The role is site-based, practical and closely connected to a wider team who value collaboration and shared responsibility.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver planned mechanical maintenance across building services systems
• Respond calmly and effectively to reactive maintenance issues
• Maintain air handling units, pumps and associated plant
• Support the safe operation of critical hospital infrastructure
• Follow compliance and safety requirements in all activities
• Work closely with supervisors and specialist engineers
• Contribute to system reliability and uptime
• Keep clear and accurate maintenance records

Essential skills and requirements

• Background in mechanical maintenance within building services
• Practical knowledge of mechanical plant and air handling systems
• Experience working within a facilities or estates environment
• Strong focus on safety and compliance
• Ability to work effectively on a live, occupied site
• Willingness to learn and undertake further training
• Relevant mechanical qualifications at Level 2 or 3, or equivalent
• CSCS card and mechanical skillcard
• Comfortable working as part of a wider engineering team
