Mechanical Project Engineer – Allington – up to £70,000 DOE inclusive of car allowance, plus excellent benefits
Our client, a leading waste and resource management company, is seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer to join their team at their Allington site. This role focuses on delivering mechanical projects from concept through to commissioning, supporting plant reliability and continuous improvement within a heavy industrial environment.
Deliver mechanical projects within an Energy from Waste facility, driving plant performance and reliability. A key role supporting upgrades, maintenance strategy, and operational improvement.
Role responsibilities:
- Delivering mechanical engineering projects from concept through to installation, commissioning, and handover at the Allington site.
- Managing contractors and ensuring all project activities are carried out safely and in line with site procedures
- Supporting plant outages, including planning and execution of mechanical works
- Developing and improving maintenance strategies to enhance plant reliability and performance
- Driving continuous improvement through root cause analysis and process optimisation
The successful candidate:
- Qualified in a Mechanical Engineering discipline (essential)
- Proven track record delivering mechanical projects within Energy from Waste, power, or heavy industrial environments
- Strong knowledge of steam turbines, generators, pressure systems, and mechanical plant equipment
- Experience with maintenance management systems and statutory inspection requirements
- IOSH or NEBOSH qualification with strong understanding of health and safety compliance
Salary, Hours & Benefits:
- Up to £70k DOE inclusive of car allowance plus excellent benefits
- 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday
- 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
