Mechanical Project Manager - High‑End Mechanical Project (£2M)
Contract Duration: Minimum 12 months
Annual Compensation: £65,000-£70,000
Location: Wiltshire region (project‑based)
Role Overview
A leading building services contractor is seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to oversee a high‑end mechanical installation project valued at approximately £2M. The successful candidate will take full responsibility for project delivery, from pre‑construction planning through to commissioning and handover.
This role requires a strong technical background, excellent commercial awareness, and proven experience managing complex mechanical packages within the construction or building services sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Leadership - Manage all mechanical aspects of the project, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to specification.
- Programme Management - Develop, monitor, and update project programmes, identifying risks and implementing mitigation strategies.
- Technical Oversight - Review technical drawings, specifications, and design information; coordinate with consultants and subcontractors.
- Commercial Control - Manage budgets, variations, procurement schedules, and cost reporting in collaboration with commercial teams.
- Site Coordination - Lead site teams, supervise subcontractors, and ensure compliance with health & safety regulations.
- Client & Stakeholder Management - Maintain strong communication with clients, consultants, and internal teams, providing regular progress updates.
- Quality Assurance - Ensure all installations meet required standards, industry regulations, and project specifications.
- Commissioning & Handover - Oversee testing, commissioning, and final project handover documentation.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Mechanical building services background with at least 5 years' project management experience.
- Proven track record delivering mechanical packages between £1M-£3M.
- Strong understanding of HVAC, public health systems, plant rooms, and high‑end mechanical installations.
- Experience working with main contractors, M&E contractors, or specialist mechanical firms.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
- SMSTS or equivalent site safety certification
- CSCS (Manager level)
