Salary: Upto £46,000 DOE

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Shift Engineer to work within a commercial office building in WC1, Central London. This is a permanent role with an established SME facilities management provider, operating on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern covering days and nights.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high‑quality mechanical maintenance, planned preventative maintenance (PPM), and reactive maintenance within a busy commercial office environment. This role would suit a Mechanical Shift Engineer, Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, or Building Services Engineer with strong experience in hard FM sites.

• Provide mechanical engineering cover on a 4 on 4 off days and nights shift rota
• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on mechanical building services
• Respond promptly to reactive mechanical maintenance issues
• Fault find and maintain HVAC systems, AHUs, FCUs, pumps, valves, pipework, and pressurisation units
• Monitor and maintain plant rooms, ensuring safe and efficient operation at all times
• Support water systems monitoring and basic compliance checks (L8 awareness beneficial)
• Assist with minor mechanical installation and remedial works
• Ensure all works comply with Health & Safety legislation and site procedures
• Accurately complete shift logs, permits to work, and CAFM updates
• Liaise effectively with electrical engineers, security, and site management

• NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services (or equivalent)
• Proven experience as a Mechanical Shift Engineer or Mechanical Maintenance Engineer
• Background working within commercial offices, corporate buildings, data‑led environments, or facilities management
• Strong knowledge of HVAC and mechanical building services systems
• Experience working on days and nights shift patterns
• Good fault‑finding and problem‑solving skills
• Able to work independently and respond calmly during out‑of‑hours incidents
• Strong communication and customer service skills
