Salary: Up to £55,000 per annum
Shift Pattern: Continental Shift Pattern (Days & Nights, 7am–7pm / 7pm–7am)
Mechanical Shift Engineer – Canary Wharf
We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated Mechanical Shift Engineer to join a prestigious commercial property in Canary Wharf. As a Mechanical Shift Engineer, you will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical systems across a large commercial estate, ensuring all plant and equipment operates safely, efficiently, and in line with contractual requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on mechanical building services systems.
- Maintain and repair HVAC, pumps, motors, pipework, valves, AHUs, FCUs, and associated mechanical plant.
- Respond promptly to building faults and breakdowns, ensuring minimal disruption to building operations.
- Conduct routine plant inspections and record operational data.
- Support subcontractors and specialist service providers when required.
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with health and safety regulations and site procedures.
- Accurately complete maintenance reports and documentation through the CAFM system.
- Participate in site emergency response procedures and shift handovers.
Requirements:
- Recognised Mechanical Engineering qualification (City & Guilds, NVQ, Apprenticeship, or equivalent).
- Previous experience working within commercial building maintenance, critical environments, or facilities management.
- Strong understanding of HVAC and mechanical building services systems.
- Experience carrying out both planned and reactive maintenance.
- Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.
- Good communication skills and a proactive approach to work.
- Ability to work a continental shift pattern covering days and nights.
