Mechanical Site Engineer

A specialist shower solutions provider supplying to the largest outdoor events and festivals in the UK/Ireland is looking for a Mechanical Site Engineer to provide general repair, maintenance and servicing while at events and headquarters in Shepton Mallet during the off-season. The Mechanical Site Engineer will have a time served mechanical apprenticeship or equivalent in work experience, be a problem solver, and a good communicator.

Key Responsibilities are split into 2 seasonal blocks:
Summer (May-Sep):
- Be present at the events and customer sites c. 2 months on the road, July and August mainly. Company Caravans are provided for staying on site where necessary.
- Organise the delivery of products by truck, unloading and sighting by HIAB or unloading by Site Telehandler (third-party) and delivery of the services by other contractors necessary to commission per deadline
- Organise cleaning staff arranged by the event or ourselves, and quality check, carry out some cleaning works yourself, depending on the event. Regular maintenance checks and repairs are necessary.
- Work with the events production team and their subcontractors and keep the customer and management updated on progress regularly
- Decommission units, make safe for transport and deal with load-out
Winter (Sep-Apr):
- Devising various projects to identify upgrades or refurbishment requirements on the units
- Carrying out basic electrical, plumbing, metal work, woodwork and various other tasks over the winter period
- Organising routine maintenance and overseeing outside contractors where necessary, performing additional cleaning, electrical, plumbing and gas works on the units. Organising maintenance of the company vehicle.
- Log maintenance of each unit and do comprehensive testing again with outside contractors, where necessary, to ready the units for the next summer season
- Conducting Site Visits to scheduled event locations to familiarise yourself with the event site load-in and load-out routes and installation design and locations. Also, meeting in person and building relationships with the Event Production and Site Management teams. Be best prepared to deliver a high-quality service.
Knowledge, skills and qualifications:
Essential
- Time served as a mechanical apprentice or equivalent work experience
- Have proven work experience in mechanical engineering or a relevant engineering field
- Evidence of previous relevant projects completed
- Have experience in electrical wiring & basic plumbing
- Must have high energy, be flexible, focused and be able to think on your feet and be able to thrive in high-pressure environments and relish a challenge
- Excellent time and energy management skills, as you will be in high-energy environments
- Full clean driving licence
- Have a category BE or CE licence
- Ability to work on your own as well as in a team
Desirable
- Some experience in metal and woodwork with basic construction knowledge/experience
- Previous gas boiler experience
- Telehandler License and experience driving the same
- Previous experience working in the events industry or industries utilising similar skills and attitudes as set out above
Salary: £40,000 to £45,000 DOE
