We are currently recruiting for a MIG Welder to join one of our clients on a temporary to permanent contract based in Bolton.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced MIG Welder with strong fabrication skills to support a busy workshop during a peak period. The role will involve a mixture of MIG welding and fabrication work within a fast paced manufacturing environment, producing bespoke metal components to a high standard. TIG welding experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 16:00. Weekend overtime may also be available and is paid at enhanced overtime rates.
Responsibilities:
- Carrying out MIG welding on a range of fabricated products and components.
- Working with materials including Mild Steel, Stainless Steel, Structural Steel, and Aluminium.
- Completing fabrication and assembly work using engineering drawings and measurements.
- Preparing materials through cutting, grinding, and fitting processes before welding.
- Using workshop machinery, hand tools, and power tools safely and effectively.
- Supporting production targets while maintaining high fabrication standards.
- Carrying out quality inspections on completed work to ensure accuracy and finish.
- Assisting the wider workshop team with general fabrication duties as required.
- Maintaining a safe and organised working area at all times
Mig Welder Skills and Experience Required:
- Previous experience working as a MIG Welder within a fabrication, Engineering or manufacturing environment
- Strong fabrication skills with the ability to produce accurate work to specification.
- Ability to confidently read and interpret engineering drawings.
- TIG welding experience would be beneficial although not essential.
- Good level of numeracy for measurements, dimensions, and basic calculations.
- Experience using fabrication equipment and general workshop machinery.
- High attention to detail with strong quality checking abilities.
- Reliable and hardworking attitude with a good understanding of workshop safety procedures.
