Lecturer in Motor Vehicle

Location: Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria
Salary: Up to £37,000 per annum
Contract: Permanent
Hours: 37 hours per week

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lecturer in Motor Vehicle to join a growing curriculum team in Barrow-in-Furness.

This role would suit either an experienced Motor Vehicle Lecturer or an experienced Vehicle Technician looking to take the next step into education. If you are passionate about the automotive industry and developing the next generation of technicians, we would love to hear from you.

You will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching, training and assessment across a range of motor vehicle programmes, helping learners develop the practical skills, technical knowledge and professional behaviours required for successful careers within the automotive sector.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering engaging and practical lessons in Motor Vehicle studies.
  • Teaching vehicle maintenance, servicing, diagnostics and repair techniques.
  • Planning and preparing learning materials, schemes of work and lesson plans.
  • Assessing learner progress and providing timely, constructive feedback.
  • Supporting learners to achieve their full potential and career aspirations.
  • Maintaining accurate learner records in line with awarding body and organisational requirements.
    • Embedding current industry standards, technologies and best practices into teaching delivery.
    • Supporting apprenticeship and employer engagement activities where required.
    • Ensuring safe working practices are maintained within workshop environments.
    • Contributing to quality improvement and curriculum development activities.


    About You

    To be considered for this role, you will have:

    • A minimum NVQ Level 3 qualification in Motor Vehicle or an equivalent automotive qualification.
    • Significant industry experience as a Vehicle Technician.
    • Strong knowledge of vehicle servicing, maintenance, diagnostics and repair procedures.
    • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
    • A passion for sharing your knowledge and supporting learner success.

    A teaching qualification is desirable but not essential. Full support will be provided for industry candidates looking to transition into teaching and gain a recognised teaching qualification.
