Hours: Days 7am-7pm – Nights 7pm-7am(42 Hours per week)

Key Day Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across all production and site services equipment
  • Schedule and complete servicing, inspections, and repairs to a high standard, ensuring full compliance and accurate record keeping
  • Maintain and operate site services including boilers, compressed air systems, chilled water, and effluent treatment
  • Support installation, commissioning, and relocation of machinery and equipment
  • Work closely with production teams to identify and deliver efficiency improvements and reduce downtime
  • Participate in root cause analysis and implement long-term corrective actions
  • Ensure all work is completed in line with food safety, hygiene, and health & safety standards
  • Adhere to GMP standards and promote a “clean as you go” culture

Skills & Experience Required:

Essential:

  • Multi-skilled engineer with strong electrical and mechanical competencies
  • Recognised engineering qualification (e.g. Apprenticeship, ONC, City & Guilds, 17th/18th Edition)
  • Ability to carry out both reactive and preventative maintenance
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
  • Experience working in an FMCG manufacturing environment
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good communication skills with the ability to engage at all levels
  • Understanding the importance of accurate record keeping (quality, food safety, H&S)
  • Proactive attitude with a strong team working ethic

Desirable:

  • Experience working within an FMCG or food manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of food safety standards such as BRCGS
  • Experience working with site services (boilers, air systems, chilled water, effluent)
  • Experience supporting installations, upgrades, and continuous improvement projects
  • Formal mechanical qualification (in addition to electrical bias)
  • Experience working to retailer standards
  • Continuous improvement mindset (lean / efficiency focused)
