Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer

Salary: £45,000 – £50,000+ (flexible for the right candidate)
Hours: Monday to Friday
Typical working hours are 6:00am – 2:00pm, with flexibility to work alternative shift patterns including 7:00am – 4:00pm or 8:00am – 5:00pm. Overtime is also available.

Overview

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join a leading industrial and processing environment based in Leeds.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the continuous and efficient operation of all electrical and mechanical systems across site, including cranes and steel processing machinery. This position would suit a proactive engineer with strong fault-finding skills and experience within a heavy industrial or manufacturing setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative and reactive maintenance on electrical and mechanical equipment
  • Maintain and repair:
    • Overhead cranes
    • Conveyors
    • Cutting, shearing, and processing machinery
    • HVAC systems, compressors, and general site services
  • Diagnose faults and carry out repairs or modifications as required
  • Develop and maintain preventative maintenance schedules and records
  • Conduct inspections and audits to ensure compliance with statutory regulations and company standards
  • Liaise with external contractors for specialist maintenance, repairs, and inspections
  • Ensure all permits, safety procedures, and documentation are completed correctly
  • Maintain stock levels of spare parts and maintenance tools
  • Keep accurate maintenance logs and documentation for audit and compliance purposes
  • Support site improvement projects and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Assist with operator training on basic maintenance and safety procedures
  • Ensure all work is carried out in line with health & safety policies and procedures

Skills & Experience

  • Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding abilities
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and within a team
  • Experience using CMMS systems would be advantageous
  • Previous experience within manufacturing, engineering, or heavy industrial environments preferred
