The Role

We’re looking for a Night Engineer to support a busy production site, carrying out preventative maintenance during non-production hours to ensure equipment runs safely, efficiently, and reliably.

Working closely with the night shift operator and wider engineering team, you’ll play a key role in maintaining brewing and packaging equipment, minimising downtime, and driving continuous improvement across the site.

This is a hands-on, autonomous role, ideal for someone comfortable working independently while maintaining high standards of safety, organisation, and engineering practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across site equipment
  • Diagnose and resolve electrical and mechanical faults efficiently
  • Maintain and improve automation systems to minimise downtime
  • Ensure all equipment operates at optimal performance levels
  • Support installation and commissioning of new machinery
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation
  • Develop and manage maintenance schedules, SOPs, and validation/testing processes
  • Manage engineering spares, tools, and inventory, including supplier coordination
  • Work collaboratively with production teams to ensure smooth shift handovers
  • Identify and support continuous improvement opportunities across the plant
  • Ensure full compliance with health & safety standards
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment

About You

  • Qualified in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (ONC, NVQ Level 3, C&G, BTEC or equivalent)
  • Experience in a hands-on maintenance role within FMCG or manufacturing
  • Strong electrical fault-finding skills (multi-skilled preferred)
  • Experience working with automated production equipment
  • Good IT skills for reporting and record-keeping
  • Knowledge of health & safety and safe working practices
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail
  • Able to work independently in a fast-paced production environment
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to work

Desirable

BOAS certification

Welding/fabrication experience

FLT licence

Experience supporting projects or continuous improvement initiatives

Exposure to process or brewing environments
