The Role
Weβre looking for a Night Engineer to support a busy production site, carrying out preventative maintenance during non-production hours to ensure equipment runs safely, efficiently, and reliably.
Working closely with the night shift operator and wider engineering team, youβll play a key role in maintaining brewing and packaging equipment, minimising downtime, and driving continuous improvement across the site.
This is a hands-on, autonomous role, ideal for someone comfortable working independently while maintaining high standards of safety, organisation, and engineering practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across site equipment
- Diagnose and resolve electrical and mechanical faults efficiently
- Maintain and improve automation systems to minimise downtime
- Ensure all equipment operates at optimal performance levels
- Support installation and commissioning of new machinery
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation
- Develop and manage maintenance schedules, SOPs, and validation/testing processes
- Manage engineering spares, tools, and inventory, including supplier coordination
- Work collaboratively with production teams to ensure smooth shift handovers
- Identify and support continuous improvement opportunities across the plant
- Ensure full compliance with health & safety standards
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment
About You
- Qualified in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (ONC, NVQ Level 3, C&G, BTEC or equivalent)
- Experience in a hands-on maintenance role within FMCG or manufacturing
- Strong electrical fault-finding skills (multi-skilled preferred)
- Experience working with automated production equipment
- Good IT skills for reporting and record-keeping
- Knowledge of health & safety and safe working practices
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail
- Able to work independently in a fast-paced production environment
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Flexible and adaptable approach to work
Desirable
BOAS certification
Welding/fabrication experience
FLT licence
Experience supporting projects or continuous improvement initiatives
Exposure to process or brewing environments
