We work with a range of fantastic nurseries across Essex and are looking for individuals with experience in the education sector who are keen to support young children in their early years development.

You do not need a formal childcare qualification to apply. If you have experience working with children in schools, nurseries, childcare settings, clubs, holiday camps, sports coaching, youth work, or similar educational environments, we would love to hear from you.

As a Nursery Assistant with TeacherActive, you'll have the flexibility to choose work that suits your schedule, with opportunities ranging from day-to-day cover shifts to long-term placements and permanent positions.

The Role

As a Nursery Assistant, you will support nursery staff in creating a safe, caring, and engaging environment where children can learn, play, and develop. No two days are the same, making this an exciting opportunity for individuals who enjoy working with young children.

Key Responsibilities

• Supporting children with play-based learning activities
• Assisting nursery practitioners with daily routines
• Helping to create a safe, positive, and welcoming environment
• Encouraging children's social, emotional, and educational development
• Supporting meal times, story sessions, and creative activities
• Assisting with indoor and outdoor play
• Building positive relationships with children and staff
• Following nursery policies and safeguarding procedures
• Maintaining high standards of care and professionalism

What We're Looking For

• Experience working with children within an educational or childcare setting
• A positive and enthusiastic attitude
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• A genuine passion for supporting children's development
• Reliability and flexibility
• Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
• Right to work in the UK
